My style fuels my passion because it's entirely my own. Almost all the pieces I love are thrifted or secondhand. I love what I wear.
We would like to thank you for supporting Jezrelle Munyiri in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
My style stands out because it's rooted in confidence and authenticity. I wear what makes me feel good—pieces that are unique, bold, and true to who I am. Growing up in a conservative area in the Midwest, I was often made to feel like self-expression was something to hide. I never quite fit the mold, not just in how I dressed, but in who I am: a young, queer woman of color. But over time, I’ve come to see my individuality as a source of strength. My style is about being unapologetically myself.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dream fashion moment would be to be styled by one of my favorite brands, like Vivienne Westwood or Heavn by Marc Jacobs. I’m deeply inspired by ’90s runway fashion—the bold silhouettes, the attitude, the storytelling—and I spend a lot of my free time studying these designers and their archives. Their work pushes boundaries while staying true to a strong sense of identity, which is something I aspire to in my own style.
What would you do with $20,000?
If I were awarded the money, I would use it first and foremost to travel. Experiencing different cultures—their art, clothing, food, and ways of life—is one of my biggest dreams. I believe that exploring the world not only broadens your perspective, but also helps you grow into a more empathetic and creative person. I would also put part of the money toward my college education. I plan to study both psychology and art, with the goal of becoming an art therapist.
